Demetri Martin to perform at Meadow Brook Music Festival

While you’ve still got a while before the debut of “Important Things with Demetri Martin 2,”  you can still get Demetri Martin tickets to see him perform live stand up comedy.

Martin will be at the Dallas House of Blues on July 16 and the Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, Mich., on July 17.

Other entertainment at the Meadow Brook Music Festival includes ABBA The Music on July 1, “Weird Al” Yankovic on July 3, O.A.R. with special guest Citizen Cope on July 18, and more!

Demetri Martin To Host Just For Laughs

Just for Laughs just announced its line up for the 2010 Toronto Festival. Demetri Martin is to host the West Jet Gala Thursday, July 8th at 9:30pm.

This year the festival will be taking place from July 6th-11th. The roster of comic stars appearing at the festival include Wayne Brady, Brad Garrett, Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis Black, Mike Birbiglia, Aziz Ansari, Gabriel Igesias, Jim Breuer and Lavell Crawford, plus many more. (Read More…)

Demetri Martin Moving Forward

With the second season of “Important Things With Demetri Martin,” well underway, Martin talks about success and what he sees next for himself after the move to L.A.

For Demetri, the work still feels the same on the west coast, as for his show, guest appearances include Fred Willard and Alan Dale from Lost.  Martin admits he has never seen an episode. 

Instead, you will find him tuning in to HGTV.  He reflects, “There is something very simple about the programming that doesn’t seem too tied to the real world.  So I get to watch people and images but I don’t have to know too much about news or politics.  It’s kind of irresponsible, but it’s really relaxing.”

In addition to working on his show, Demetri is hard at work with his script “Will,”  getting it ready for the big screen.  Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis are set to star in the feature with direction from Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.

As for an appearance from Martin, “I had the idea for that movie about a decade ago.  I always thought I’d be in it [but] so far I’m not famous enough to be in my movie.”

The question remains if Martin will return to stand-up. Right now, other projects, including a book of essays and drawings, keep him off the stage.  To read more about Demetri, his  life after Conan O’Brien, and his future comedic successes, check out his full interview.

No Bonnaroo for You

Fans of Demetri Martin were disappointed to hear that the rising comedic star will not be participating in the 2009 Comedy Tent at Bonnaroo– the 3-day music & arts festival held in Manchester, Tennessee.

Martin performed at the 2007 Bonnaroo alongside other comedy star favorites such as Dave Attell and Flight of the Conchords. Like Martin, both of these acts have gained in popularity since then.

Martin is very busy with his latest projects, namely the Comedy Central show “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” and his upcoming movie, Taking Woodstock.

Taking Woodstock

Sometime this year, Demetri Martin’s film Taking Woodstock is slated for release.

The movie is based on a book (of the same name) about the true story of Elliott Tiber (Demetri Martin), an aspiring designer in Greenwich Village, whose parents owned the only hotel in the town of Bethel, NY when Woodstock debuted in 1969.

Demetri Martin Stays Busy

Comedian Demetri Martin is a busy guy. These days you can find him doing his own show for Comedy Central, “Important Things with Demetri Martin.” It’s pretty funny - you should check it out if you haven’t already.

If you prefer to see your action live, then go see Demetri do his stand up in person. He’s managed to find time to schedule 4 shows in April - 2 at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, and 2 at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC.

Martin is also trying his hand at acting. He plays the lead role in the upcoming Ang Lee movie Taking Woodstock, which comes out this summer. And if that’s just dipping his toe into cinema, he follows up by jumping right into the deep end by writing and co-writing a couple scripts for future features.
